It’s not just the beginning that’s difficult

Wabi-Sabi Benz

as of August 2025

I wrestled with myself for a long time over whether to keep running this blog, and decided to document my project here, which was originally planned to last six months. After all, I’d already just about reached the first milestone after three months.

So this is more of an account of the mistakes I’ve made and what I’ve learnt than a guide on how it should be done.

With that in mind.
Perfection is a polished collection of mistakes.

Ever since I started the conversion, I’ve been asking myself: how perfect does it need to be, and can I actually manage it? As I don’t have the experience of a craftsman and I’m not exactly a gifted tinker either, it’s probably rather unlikely that it’ll turn out flawless.

During my 10 months in South America, the Dog.O.Mobil had proven itself, and I now have a better understanding of its strengths and weaknesses. When planning my next trips, I decided that I would need a vehicle that could handle rough terrain better

Dog.O.Mobil

March 2019 till August 2025

The Dog.O.Mobil is called Dog.O.Mobil because I needed a name and I couldn't get our dogs Miko, Cosma and Juno aka King Willi out of my head

My website URL is based on a quote from Lewis Carroll, "If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there"

Sometimes when I have a break and nothing to do, then I take the time to reflect. I ask myself would I regret something. Then I found this quote, "Save regrets for your 50s and 60s"

Shit, I am in the 50s.

My idea is to see countries I have not seen before, meet people I would normally not talk to and eat food that I am not familiar with and what I did not want to do is to spent my time in the Dog.O.Mobil eating miles on the road
