The Berca Mud Volcanoes <Vulcanii noroioși> are next to Berca, not far from Buzău. It covers an area of 30 km² and apart from Camping Muddy there are only a few guesthouses
We hiked three of the four mud volcanoes from the campsite. The area is perfect for a hike.
And as you can see on the video the volcanoes are not tiny. The 3 ones we saw are having at least a diameter of 100m
You can visit several small villages, we picked Beciu with approx 20 houses

We were told that other mud volcanoes only exist in Iceland. According to Wikipedia "The main attraction of the protected area are mud volcanoes, which are a few meters high. It is cold volcanism. The volcanoes are formed by gases that rise from about 3,000 m depth through clay and water layers. The mud dries on the earth's surface and forms structures resembling a volcano.
Because the mud is salty and sulphurous, the environment is hostile to vegetation, but some rare salt-resistant plant species have settled there."
