Loading the camper van

Less than 2 weeks before the tour starts. In the last few days I have loaded everything except the clothes and the basic equipment for the kitchen

  • Gas bottle renewed
  • MOT renewed
  • Medicine box packed
  • Bike rack mounted and bike ready for summer
  • Sine converter put into operation and tested the electrics
  • Grill and Dutch Oven tested 🧐
  • Linen loaded
  • etc

Reduced my clothes list. Less is more and you can wash elsewhere. Put some time into understanding which ecological detergents, cleaning agents and care products are on the market. Öko-Test opened my eyes a little

Spent some time looking for books to read on the tour. I didn't want to rely entirely on an e-reader, which is why I bought books on paper again.

Coming weekend, my last weekend at home, I just have to take care of my clothes and go a last time shopping in Germany. My first stage will get me to the Bernina Pass. Whether I will sleep on the pass or not depends on the temperatures... at -8 degrees, I continue to Italy 😉

Many thanks to Stefan and Jivko who gave me some good advice for the Balkans. This will realy help me as I am trying to shy away from Tripadvisor Top 10 recommendations as much as I can. My route in Macedonia and Bulgaria has definitely changed

2 topics are still on my to-do list

  1. A rod for dummies, so I can catch a fish in the Nordics. What is a good starter kit?
  2. Water treatment. Was looking to get a water filter but (a) they are expensive and (b) not all are available. Do i really need it?
